Law Firm Cabada & Hameed Opens for Business

For Immediate Release: Law Firm Cabada & Hameed Opens for Business
“Big Firm” Veterans Fill Industry Gap and Offer Unique Multicultural Perspective
Los Angeles, CA – Cabada & Hameed LLP, the law firm founded by seasoned legal veterans Francisco Cabada and Sayema Hameed, officially celebrated the launch of its Southern California operations today.   The firm is based in Irvine, serving the greater Southern California community, and offers a wide array of legal services, with a focus on Business Law and Litigation, Labor and Employment and Criminal Law.   Managing partners Francisco Cabada and Sayema Hameed will host a celebratory launch reception for colleagues, clients and members of the region’s legal community this evening at The Edison in downtown Los Angeles.
No strangers to working in tandem, attorneys Cabada and Hameed both honed their legal skills in the downtown Los Angeles office of White & Case LLP prior to starting their own firm.  While there, both attorneys rose to senior associate level providing legal counsel to Fortune 500 companies as well as smaller, regional businesses.  After testing the waters at other regional firms including Littler Mendelson, P.C. in Orange County, they saw an opportunity to join forces and offer something unique to clients in the Southland.
“We looked around and realized that very few firms could offer the breadth of experience and strategic vision that big firms offer while keeping costs reasonable, attitude at a minimum and individual client attention at a premium,” said co-founding partner Francisco Cabada when discussing the vision behind the firm. “Many matters are too limited or too short in duration to warrant big firm attention, but many smaller firms do not have attorneys with the training and experience to bring about successful resolution.  That’s where we come in.”
For example, Cabada & Hameed recently brought about the successful resolution and dismissal of a $400,000 breach of contract lawsuit against its client, a start-up web design company based in Florida.  Consistent with its strategic mission, Cabada & Hameed achieved this without the heavy costs associated with big firms.
With the economic climate still uncertain and many area businesses looking for ways to cut costs while still receiving top tier legal counsel, Cabada and Hameed see a segment of the industry that can benefit from their partnership.
“Right now, so many businesses are weathering hard times or addressing new challenges in unchartered territory,” explained co-founding partner Sayema Hameed. “Whether bracing for litigation or restructuring operations, all kinds of businesses are in the market for solid legal representation.   Not having millions in the bank should not mean you have to sacrifice the experienced guidance, strategic insights and legal knowledge that increasingly complex problems require.  We want to fill that gap and offer that alternative.”
The partnership of Cabada and Hameed has another distinction that sets it apart from the pack.  Francisco Cabada is a Mexican-American with strong ties to the Latino community in the area.  He speaks fluent Spanish and is extremely adept at handling legal matters in his native tongue.  Partner Sayema Hameed is a Pakistani-America whose ties to the South Asian community are apparent. She has served on the Board of Directors and as President of the South Asian Bar Association of Southern California Public Interest Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for grassroots legal and social services benefiting the South Asian communities of Southern California.  Both attorneys are committed to developing client relationships with the businesses in their respective communities and to providing legal counsel while embracing, rather than dismissing, cultural sensitivities.
“For a variety of reasons, including different cultural norms or language barriers, many Latino and South Asian business leaders find their options for legal representation are limited,” indicated Hameed. “We have found that these businesses feel most comfortable dealing with attorneys who understand how their cultures inform their business decisions and respect the choices they make as a result.  We can provide that comfort zone while maintaining the highest standard of care and counsel.”
Demonstrating their commitment to diversity, Cabada & Hameed LLP recently became certified by the California Public Utilities Commission’s Supplier Clearinghouse as a Minority Owned Business (MBE).
Beyond seeing ties to these communities as a promising client pool, both Cabada and Hameed are dedicated to giving back to those less fortunate, especially those impacted by the current economic downturn.
“It is not surprising that both of these communities have been hit hard by the recession and seeing recovery and rebuilding within our communities is important to us.” said Cabada. “We are committed to seeking out causes within the Latino and South Asian communities for pro bono efforts as our firm continues to grow and this will always be a cornerstone of our business model moving forward.”
