Sayema Hameed Joins Board Of South Asian Network


Cabada & Hameed LLP is pleased to announce that partner Sayema Hameed has joined the Board of Directors of the non-profit organization South Asian Network (SAN).

Formed by community activists in 1990, SAN is a community-based organization dedicated to advancing the health, empowerment and solidarity of persons of South Asian origin in Southern California.  Through its organizing and advocacy work, SAN has successfully transcended nationality, religion, language, gender and class to create a multilingual, holistic and culturally competent approach to community outreach, education, direct service and policy advocacy.

SAN has three active program units: 1) AWAZ: Voices Against Violence Unit (providing critical services to survivors of violence and their children); 2) CHAI: Community Health Action Initiative Unit (promoting healthy living through education, empowerment, and health access for the underserved including the elderly); and 3) CRU: Civil Rights Unit (organizing and advocating on a variety of issues including worker rights, discrimination, hate crimes, LGBT rights).

SAN strives to challenge social injustice within and beyond the South Asian communities in Southern California.  With her appointment to the Board of Directors, Sayema Hameed is excited to joins a diverse group of staff, volunteers, and board members who are committed to providing vital social services to the South Asian communities in Southern California.
